Bastion to start Cometa Copper Project exploration following completion of drilling at flagship Capote Gold Project

Bastion Minerals (ASX:BMO) will launch exploration activities at the Cometa Copper Project following the completion of drilling at its flagship Capote Gold Project in Chile’s ‘mineral-rich’ Atacama Region.

Gold and multi-element assays from recently completed drillholes CPDH005-008 at Capote are eagerly awaited, following the return of initial results which demonstrated that ‘significant’ near surface gold mineralisation exists within the project.

To date, 3,071m of the total 5,000m maiden drilling campaign has been completed, with all results received indicating elevated gold in all structures drilled and also confirming that mineralisation extends to depth and along strike.

The maiden drilling campaign commenced in June this year with a goal of testing the 6 main targets across the Capote Gold Project tenement to indicate which targets boast the best potential for a ‘high-grade’ gold discovery.

Speaking on the drilling program, Bastion Executive Chairman, Ross Landles, said: “We are extremely pleased with the progression toward completion of our maiden drilling campaign at the Capote Gold Project. We’re now over 60% of the way through our program, having completed 3,071 metres of the 5,000 metres planned.

“We are extremely pleased with the progression toward completion of our maiden drilling campaign at the Capote Gold Project”

The previously announced encouraging gold intersections including 4.68m @ 2.59g/t Au from 55.32m in CPDH004B confirm the presence of high-grade gold, giving us confidence as we progress the program.

Following the completion of the Capote drill program, we expect to commence exploration activities at the exciting Cometa Copper project, an IOCG style target for a large-scale Cu/Au porphyry discovery.”

The company also notes that the 2 recently completed CPDH009 and CPDH013 drillholes within the Resurgimiento and Resurgimiento 2 prospects have also been submitted, with assays pending.

In addition, it is reported that the San Juan project continues to be tested in parallel with Bastion’s preparations for an exploration program at its ‘exciting’ Cometa Copper project, which represents an IOCG style target for a large-scale Cu/Au porphyry discovery.

Bastion Minerals is an ASX-listed exploration company focused on discovering ‘high-grade’ precious and base metals deposits across its project portfolio based within the mineral-rich Atacama Region of Chile.

The company’s Capote Gold Project is located within the historical Capote mining district and covers a total landholding of about 88.55km-square. The project tenement comprises three main targets, including the San Juan Mine, which is reported to have produced 0.5Moz Au at 40g/t Au and processed a total of 1.7Moz Au at 52g/t Au.
